“Through Quick and Quinn” by Erica Mimran Sherlock
Feel, deal, heal. This mantra throughout the YA contemporary book Through Quick and Quinn, sets the tone entirely. Erica Mimram Sherlock’s novel is one of grief, teen mental health, mindfulness, compassion, and curiosity. She joined the Narratives & Nightcaps Podcast to talk more with Brie and Emily about the backstory behind her book, including the 20+ years she spent teaching, interacting daily with the next generations. And it was those observations and experiences that ultimately lead her to create a story and space that safely explores heavy subjects for teens while building a bridge to connect parents, loved ones, and other adults.
The narrative: about Through Quick and Quinn
Quick is reeling from a family tragedy. With no guidance or support from his parents and disconnected from his peers, his path looks dark. Quinn isn’t a stranger to loss either. Although brokenhearted, she explores methods for healing and seeking positivity each day, even if it makes her an outcast. Neither are looking for a connection, but the two are shocked by how much they share. So, Quick and Quinn journey together, searching for answers about themselves and the world around them, they dare to ask hard questions, and ultimately form a bond unlike anything either could have imagined.
