“Romantic Hero” by Kirsty Greenwood
“When people read Romantic Hero, and I think in the same that I wanted when people read The Love of My Afterlife and read any of my books, I really want people to turn the final page and feel like a sense of oomph as she calls it in Romantic Hero… a sense of courage… a feeling that you’re braver than you thought you were. I guess it’s what I always want for my readers to see through the adventures that my characters have had, where they’ve learned that they’re capable of more than they thought.”
In 2024, we were first introduced to Kirsty Greenwood when The Love of My Afterlife was released, and… we became forever-fans. Not only does she have a delightful storytelling style that blends warmth, humor, and romance, but Kirsty’s energy and excitement are infectious.
This year, she’s returned with another whimsical tale. Romantic Hero is officially available, enchanting romance readers and making us all kick our feet and giggle.
The narrative: about Romantic Hero
Romance author Gertie Bickerstaff is on a deadline, but she can’t get a single word on the page. The pressure and the heartbreak, thanks to her ex, have created a serious case of writer’s block.
The last thing she expects in the midst of this is for the villian cowboy in her unfinished book to magically appear on her sofa, but that’s precisely what happens. River Oakley, very real and very much in her home.
He, of course, just wants to go back to Texas and there are things to do on the ranch. Gertie just wants her ex back and to finish her story. Both think they can help each other out!
But things don’t go exactly as planned when River doesn’t exactly pan out as the “bad guy” she’d envisioned.
The nightcap
As long as you're not sweating through the throws of a heat wave, or even if you are and can find a reprieve, then we’re pairing Romantic Hero with the perfect cup of English Breakfast Tea. To make it just how Kirsty likes, that includes milk and two sugars. River is a “fish out of water” when he finds himself on Gertie’s couch, and making a comforting cup of tea was not on his to-do list in Texas. But for Gertie… he’ll start to give it a try. ;-) It’s a staple, cozy companion for this story’s setting, Gertie, and Kirsty herself, making it the most suitable nightcap.
